Of course, in steam days, one was expected to know how to do a job and not to rely on safety devices!AndyKChapmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14132567027572460873noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7200631624389701992.post-45126054659061264522012-08-18T09:30:36.102+01:002012-08-18T09:30:36.102+01:00It has always surprised me that steam locomotives ...It has always surprised me that steam locomotives don't have automatic control of boiler water level because it is an obvious safety measure. I think it would easier to arrange with a reciprocating pump than with an injector.Rex Englandhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04119403883360090333noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7200631624389701992.post-14223827823433144882012-08-18T07:25:59.058+01:002012-08-18T07:25:59.058+01:00Not that I know of. More conventional locos require the fireman to operate an injector when the boiler needs more water. 7109 has the cab mounted pump which can be adjusted to steadily top up the boiler. The engine mounted pumps also operate when moving. It's probably an art to getting the settings right!AndyKChapmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14132567027572460873noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7200631624389701992.post-53702949643337985802012-08-10T06:52:56.206+01:002012-08-10T06:52:56.206+01:00Do Sentinel locos have automatic control of boiler...Do Sentinel locos have automatic control of boiler water level?Rex Englandhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04119403883360090333noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7200631624389701992.post-32707690189496354182011-07-14T22:49:46.269+01:002011-07-14T22:49:46.269+01:00Couldn't possibly comment!Couldn't possibly comment!AndyKChapmanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14132567027572460873noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7200631624389701992.post-13063293431727622772011-07-07T14:32:33.457+01:002011-07-07T14:32:33.457+01:00I'm now wondering if you bought me a new water...I'm now wondering if you bought me a new watering can, so that you could commandeer the old one...

;)VPhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02732971362066784175noreply@blogger.com
